VALE grew from years spent travelling through Northern Vietnam and returning often enough to understand which places deserve more than a passing visit.
VALE is a small travel studio led by its founder. The people who shape a journey remain close to it, from the first conversation to the final route. This makes it easier to be candid about what works on the ground, and what does not. A beautiful stay can still be wrong for the route. A place worth reaching may ask too much of a short itinerary. We weigh those choices before making a recommendation, then explain the ones that matter. Working with fewer travellers gives us time to do that carefully and to shape each journey around the people actually taking it. That means we work with a small number of travellers. It also means every property, every guide, every road on a proposed route has been checked by someone from VALE first. Nothing is recommended secondhand.
Northern Vietnam does not unfold as a single route. Places that appear close on a map can be separated by long roads, while the character of the land changes between them. Knowing the region means understanding what those roads ask of a day, not only what waits at either end. VALE begins here because this is where our knowledge runs deepest. It helps us judge when a road belongs in the journey and when the better choice is to stay longer where you are. The purpose is not to cover the region, but to give each place enough time to register.
