VALE Curated

NORTHERN VIETNAM,
CAREFULLY CHOSEN

Private journeys built around what draws you north.

THE PRACTICE OF CHOOSING WELL

Every place must earn its place in the journey.

A VALE journey begins with the traveller, not a preset route. We first understand what has drawn you north and how you want to spend your time, then decide what genuinely belongs.

That decision reaches beyond the map. We consider the road in, the room at the end of the day and the people entrusted with your time. If a stop adds hours on the road but little to the experience, we leave it out.

WHERE WE BEGIN

SELECTED JOURNEYS

Pù luông

Pù luông

MOUNTAIN VILLAGES

In Pù Luông, mornings begin with the valley already at work. VALE keeps the journey close to its villages, with gentle walks and short distances between each day’s setting.

Ninh bình

Ninh bình

THE WATER’S EDGE

Water changes character across Ninh Bình, narrowing beneath limestone before opening into wetland. VALE gives each setting its own part of the journey, rather than treating them as one repeated boat experience.

Cao Bằng

Cao Bằng

NORTHERN FRONTIER

Cao Bằng is approached through distance. The road follows long valleys, climbs through limestone passes and reaches settlements set farther apart, while rivers and frontier history remain part of the landscape. The journey works best when the road is allowed to reveal the region rather than treated as time between stops.

WHERE YOU STAY

Where you stay changes the shape of the day. A beautiful room is not enough if reaching it adds hours to the road or places you apart from the landscape around it.

VALE chooses each stay in relation to the journey. Sometimes that means a small lodge facing the valley; elsewhere, a simpler room that is well run and exactly where the day needs to end. Comfort matters, but context decides.

WHY VALE BEGAN

“I came to know Northern Vietnam by returning, not by trying to see it all at once.”

Most of those early journeys were made with friends, following roads we had not planned and staying longer when a place gave us reason to. Over time, the region became familiar through repetition: the same valley in another season, a host remembered from the previous visit, a road that made more sense the second time.

VALE grew from that way of travelling. I wanted to create private journeys for people who would rather understand a region than collect its highlights, with each decision grounded in what we know firsthand.
