VALE grew from years spent travelling Northern Vietnam and returning often enough to understand which places deserve more than a passing visit.
VALE is a small travel studio led by its founder. Every journey begins with the traveller, and the people designing it remain close to the details from the first conversation to the final route. That closeness allows us to be honest about what works on the ground. We do not claim that every road, room or season is perfect. Before we recommend anything, we understand its tradeoffs and explain them clearly when they affect the experience. That means we work with a small number of travellers. It also means every property, every guide, every road on a proposed route has been checked by someone from VALE first. Nothing is recommended secondhand.
Northern Vietnam does not unfold as a single route. Two places that look close on a map can be separated by long roads, with the character of the land changing completely between them. Understanding the region means knowing what happens along those roads, not only what waits at either end. VALE works here first because this is where our knowledge is deepest. That knowledge helps us judge whether the road adds to the journey or whether the stronger decision is to remain where you are.
The journeys shown here are starting points, not fixed itineraries. Tell us what has drawn you north and how much time you have. We will return with an initial direction before any itinerary is written.
