The route begins across open water before limestone draws closer and the boat enters a sequence of low passages. Each return to daylight changes the scale of the landscape, from narrow channels to wider reaches of water. VALE places the crossing later in the day, when traffic has begun to ease and these shifts can be felt without rushing onward.
Here, the water is shallower and more exposed, held between reed beds with limestone standing farther back. Movement is slight: a distant boat, a bird lifting from the reeds, the surface settling again. VALE times the crossing for the calmer part of the day and leaves the hours around it open, allowing the wetland to remain the centre of the experience.
Beyond the fields, the air cools as the path moves beneath the canopy. The route follows the forest edge before entering denser cover, with changes in sound and light marking the distance more clearly than any viewpoint. VALE keeps the walk moderate and returns to open country while there is still daylight, allowing the contrast to close the day.
